Veil or No Veil

Do the mothers have to coordinate gowns?  Do we have to have a wedding party?  Do I have to do a bouquet toss?  Does the bride have to wear white? The answer to all of these questions is NO!  Modern couples are changing the "rules" about wedding planning.  There are certain traditional aspects to wedding planning that no longer hold true (unless you want them to!).  Couples have the option of customizing their wedding however they'd like to best suite their style and the convenience of their guests.  So does the bride have to wear a veil?  Well the answer there is also no, but if you ask, should the bride wear a veil, we would answer yes!

This is the one day that you get to stand in front of your closest family and friends and declare your undying love for your partner.  It is the one day you get to wear a big, beautiful gown.  It is the one day that everyone focuses on you and your spouse.  It is also the one day that you get to wear a veil!

Now keep in mind that there are many different styles of veils, also keep in mind that you want your veil to compliment your look, not overwhelm it.  Many brides today no longer wear the veil over their face for that reason. Perhaps you have a simple, chic dress and are going for a vintage look, you could wear a birdcage veil.  If you your look is more traditional but still classic then you could wear a veil that is hip length, such as the Sophia Veil pictured below.  You may want something more dramatic to compliment your look and could do a cathedral veil.

Sophia Veil

There is also the option of wearing the veil for the ceremony only.  Many brides are switching to wearing a headpiece, headband or even a flower in their hair for the reception.  The veil can get in the way of hugging guests, photos and dancing (and you don't want that!) so feel free to switch things up for the reception.

Just remember to keep your desired look in mind when picking out your veil and/or headpiece.  Make sure that everything works together from the dress to the makeup to the hair!  We are sure that no matter what you decide you will make a beautiful bride!

The Grey Suit

This years hottest color suit for grooms is grey.  Some may say it's trend may have something to do with the 'Fifty Shades of Grey' books and with the excitement of the movie coming out soon.  And we'd agree!  Here are some shades of grey we are loving this season.

Charcoal:
This Charcoal Windsor by Perry Ellis will have you looking incredibly dapper on your wedding day.  If you're looking for a darker shade then this is the perfect tux for you.

Steel:
This Steel Grey Twilight by Jean Yves has a bit of shine and a lot of class!  We love this tux paired with Pantone's color of the year: Radiant Orchid.  It goes very well with warm colors and shades.

Heather:
If you're looking for a lighter, more traditional grey then Heather Grey is the way to go.  This tux from Allure Men by Jean Yves is tropical weight wool with two buttons.  We think this tux is perfect for a destination or ocean wedding.
Sterling:
Sterling Grey Madison by Perry Ellis is one of the lightest grey suits that you will see.  It is very stylish and can be paired with many different colors.

We would like to thank Premier Tux for their tuxedo photos!  Please visit www.premiertux.com to see more of their tuxedo options.  And visit us on Pinterest to see more Groom styles that we are enjoying this year www.pinterest.com/fairytaleswear!

Trends for Prom 2014

With prom season right around the corner we are starting to notice some interesting trends emerge.  These trends can also be applied to fashion and brides as well.  And with technology ever growing, it will be an interesting year with Instagram, Pinterest & Facebook in full use.  Be sure to be with the trends this year!

The biggest thing we are noticing is the color red.  We're not sure if all the credit should go to Taylor Swift and her new album 'Red', but most likely it is one of the causes of this new style.  From red lipstick & nailpolish to sultry red gowns this trend will have you looking "Red Hot" on prom night!

Another fashion statement we will be seeing this year is bling.  Terani Couture is definitely using the "Big Bling" trend.  We have two new gowns that will have you sparkling on prom night.  Be on the lookout for bling this season.  You won't be able to  miss it!

The hi-low dresses have been in style for a while, but keep a look out for the new, modified version.  Cocktail dresses with long overlay skirts, usually made of chiffon, are in high demand!  We just love this black & gold one!

We are looking forward to seeing what people are wearing this year!  As always, keep ahead of the trends and don't be afraid to start your own.

Stop by Fairy Tales Formal Wear in Glastonbury for all your prom needs.  Our newest gowns will start arriving by the end of January.  We will see you soon!
